New information on the forthcoming iPad Air has apparently leaked, suggesting we’ll get a thinner, more touchy-feely tablet.
Apple should unveil its latest range of tablets some time in October, the drip of leaks and rumours surrounding the iPad Air 2 steadily increasing in frequency.
The latest comes from a blog called The Michael Report, which claims to have obtained pictures and illustrations of the iPad Air 2 from sources within Apple. These images haven’t been published, apparently to protect those same sources.

This alleged information leak suggests that the iPad Air 2 will look much the same as the iPad Air at first glance – hardly surprising given that last year’s model represented a new design for the full-sized tablet range.
However, look (or feel) a little closer and you’ll apparently find that the iPad Air 2 is 0.5mm thinner than its predecessor. It may lead to Apple marketing the device as the thinnest tablet  on the market.
There are more external signs of change too. The speaker grille has apparently been reengineered to take up a single row of slightly larger holes.
Intriguingly, the report claims that Apple has dropped the mute toggle altogether for the iPad Air 2. The reason, apparently, is  for thinness sake.
The volume keys are also more recessed than before, and the microphones are said to have been relocated to next to the rear camera module. Speaking of which – the rear camera will apparently receive a bump to 8-megapixels.
