The new Dell Venue 8 7840 is the latest addition by Dell to its Android tablet series. It sports a 8-inch OLED 10-point touch screen with high WQXGA (Full HD+) resolution for sharp display. It is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3500 processor and 2GB RAM. It is a premium build tablet with aluminium metallic frame and according to Dell it is the world’s slimmest tablet @ 6mm thickness ! Other popular brand tablets closest to it’s thickness are Apple’s latest Apple iPad Air 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 @ 6.6mm, both of which are available in India.

Other than slimness and metallic build, the unique feature of this tablet is its 3D cameras at the rear. It sports 3 cameras at the back, one 8MP camera for regular photo/video capture and two Intel RealSense Snapshot Depth Cameras in a single black strip (eye-width apart). Three cameras create a high-definition depth map that enables measurement, refocus, and selective filters with a touch of a finger. No matter where you focus your lens when you snap a picture, you can re-focus afterward to highlight any section of the image you want. Blur the foreground or background, filter shades from black and white to color, or adjust contrast and brightness. Depth photos and Dell Gallery also allow you to measure length, width and height to scale with your photos.
